The three-days event was an occasion to reflect on the topics of tolerance and equality. The theatre play “In a better world” took place on Sunday 27, directed by Francesco Zarzana, President of Progettarte and member of ALDA’s Governing Board. Through music and acting, the story of a woman who managed to cross the sea and reach the shore was told. A message of hope, despite the sufferance of losing everything, including her soulmate. The sea, a resource that need to be protected, that always had a positive value in our imagination, becomes the grave of all those desperate lives trying to escape from situations which are consuming their dignity as human beings.

In the following days, participants also took part to a session of informal consultation on the theme of welcoming and integration with specific focus on the local level. “I come from Ukraine – sais Maryana – and I have been living here in Modena for 3 years. I am pretty happy about the way foreign people are integrated here: I was provided with free Italian courses, and I had the opportunity to get involved in lot of cultural activities. This is essential to facilitate integration”. Lot of tips, ideas, opinions have been shared during this session dedicated to the dialogue, aiming at understanding in which way things can be improved.

Elena Debonis, attending the event on behalf of ALDA, and Francesco Zarzana, President of Progettarte, introduced to all participants the work done by ALDA, and in particular activities developed in the neighbouring countries and within the LADDER project.
