1ST PROJECT

What? “Open the Treasury”
Who? Stichting Fairtrade Gemeente Nederland
Where? The Netherlands
About? Inspiring Fairtrade Towns and fostering fair-trade

An online action platform gathering together all fair-trade activities and contacts organised in different categories was set up during the project. This tool was created in order to provide inspiring activities which prevents Fairtrade Towns from re-inventing the wheel. The creation of the platform was shaped thanks to the contribution of several Fairtrade Towns that sent several activities implemented in the past. Following this, a seminar was performed for the launch of the platform. This was also the occasion to award a price to the Fairtrade Towns for their commitment in the creation of the platform. The seminar gathered together different experts who gave presentations and shared their expertise about fair-trade. From now on, the Fairtrade Action Award is supposed to be an Annual activity, increasing the sustainability of the action.

2ND PROJECT

What? “We work locally, we think globally”
Who? Združenie Slatinka
Where? Slovakia
About? Cooperation between CSOs-LAs in order to contribute to the achievement of SDG11 – Sustainable cities and communities.

Throughout a training with stakeholders, public events and some research & survey regarding the attitudes of citizens, the project realised its most significant achievement which was the creation of a strong interconnection and sustainable model of mutual cooperation between the different partners.  Particularly, the project focused on solving environmental problems in Zvolen with the support of the Environmental Faculty of the University of Zvolen. A plan for the continuation of joint activities at the end of the project was also established. Besides, a reflection regarding global education and the involvement of universities, NGOs and government was promoted by the project and now the Zvolen city can be a positive example for other communities within the country.

3RD PROJECT

What? “Zvolen Separate Waste”
Who? Centre for Sustainable Alternatives (CEPTA)
Where? Slovakia
About? Solving global problems related to waste

The most significant achievement of the project was to launch the waste separate collection system at the Zvolen’s Town Hall and raising awareness of people on topics of waste collection, separation and recycling. The project foresaw a training for the employees of the Town Hall and a great interest and enthusiasm was noticed by the trainers. Besides, the informative leaflet on waste separation and collection was provided to thousands of Zvolen citizens, explaining them how waste can be turned into valuable raw material. By doing so, a great raising awareness action was implemented. 1648 citizens were directly reached by these three project. A more sustainable, inclusive and better world can be achieved thanks to their role as multipliers in their local community!
