Perspectives from the event “The role of Municipalities in Promotion of Development Education and Research”

Municipalities have a key role leading the initiatives for the improvement of the life conditions of their inhabitants. Currently, Development Education and Research can be an important approach and tool to address some of the most challenging issues, as it can enhance the knowledge and promote involvement of all actors for the same objective, development. During this event, the activities were focused in three main issues: energy efficiency, migration and mobility and sustainable agriculture.

In this interview* Mr David Melua, Director of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG), provides an insight on the role of municipalities in the promotion of Development Education and Research. He refers to the event in Georgia as a space of exchange & learning between local authorities from different European region, which provided with the opportunity for participants to see the municipalities in Georgia in action.
